HEC-PU National Sports Competition Begins At PU. National Sports Competition 2017 being jointly organized by Punjab University and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has begun here at PU New Campus gymnasium on Monday.

Around 1000 players of 100 teams of universities, colleges and schools from different parts of Pakistan are participating in the event. The five-day competitions include hockey, cricket, football, table tennis, volleyball, squash, rowing, basketball, badminton, swimming, athletics, tug-of-war, soft ball and kabaddi. The inaugural ceremony of the competitions was held at gymnasium in which PU Director Sports Dr Zafar Iqbal, Institute of Communication Studies Incharge Dr Noshina Saleem, Assistant Professor Shabbir Sarwar, Deputy Director Sports Zubair Butt, coaches, managers and a large number of players participated in the ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, Dr Zafar Iqbal said that our society lacked healthy sports opportunities but such competitions provided a platform to the players to show their potential. He expressed the hope that our youth would play important role to highlight positive image of the country through sports.

In her address, Dr Noshina Saleem said that a large number of participants from remote areas of the country were giving a good message to show national unity. She said that sports were important part of our life and it was necessary to promote sports in our society for healthy mind and healthy body. She said that sports kept a lot of mental and physical disease away and reduced depression.

Mr Shabbir Sarwar said that sports could play role to eradicate culture of intolerance from our society because sports taught the lesson of winning and losing. He thanked Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed and PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir for extending all-out support for organizing the event. The competitions would continue till December 15.

PU organizes Int’l moot on solid

LAHORE: (Monday, December 11, 2017): The four day international conference on Solid State Physics being organized by Punjab University Centre of Excellence for Solid State Physics has began here at a local hotel on Monday. Dean Faculty of Science Prof Dr Shahid Kamal, Director CSSP Prof Dr Shahzad Naseem, international delegates and researchers from various parts of country participated in the conference. Addressing the inaugural session, Dr Shahid Kamal said that purpose of ICSSP2017 was to bring scientists from different regions together at the same platform and novel ideas in the field of theoretical and experimental research would not only be shared but will also be discussed in detail by the experts. He said that the conference would include talks of invited speakers, technical sessions, poster sessions and discussions with reference to the development of Solid State Physics in the region. Addressing the ceremony, Dr Shahzad Naseem said that young researchers would be the most beneficial community of the conference. He said that they would not only get a chance to present their original work in presence of senior scientists but they would also be able to listen, discuss and get guidance from the field experts coming around the world.

PU declares results

Punjab University Examinations Department has declared the results of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) final professional annual examination 2017. Detailed result is also available at PU website www.pu.edu.pk.
