KPK government decides to offers free breast cancer treatment in the province.
There is a good news for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, this is for the first time that the provincial government of KPK has incorporated breast cancer in the free treatment programme in order to provide ease and best facilities to beat the disease.
Breast cancer is one of the fatal diseases. The number of breast cancer cases reported in Pakistan are increasing day by day and nearly 40,000 women lose their lives every year.
As per the announcement the KPK government will provide the blood cancer and general cancers treatment to nearly 6,000 patients, within the next three years.
The breast cancer patients in KPK will now be able to undergo the free treatment facilities at Hayatabad Medical Complex in a cost-sharing plan with Novartis Pharma, which signed a memorandum of understating (MoU) with the health department of KPK back in 2011.
According to reports almost 40,000 patients suffering from some types of blood cancer have profited from the programme to get free treatment, valued Rs. 19 billion, since its launch.
The patients who have been treated through this programme included 58 percent male and 42 percent female.
According to the details, the new programme will be issued in June 2019 and will carry on till 2022, the medicines of worth Rs. 24 billion will be delivered and the government’s spending will be Rs. 2.4 billion.
Under the free breast cancer treatment in KPK the provincial government owned 10% share while 90% comes from the company.
