Few days ago the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has temporarily “banned PUBG in Pakistan” in an attempt to save the lives of the players of this online battle game.

What is PUBG?

The “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” (PUBG) is an online battle game developed by a South Korean company in 2017. This game has generated 34.2 million downloads so far.

It’s an online battle game in which players are dropped onto an island to battle it out against others for survival.

The multiplayer game permits players from across the globe to fight against each other or in teams. Players attack and kill each other in this online battle game and the more you win, the higher you rank.

Why PTA banned PUBG in Pakistan?

PTA has banned “PUBG in Pakistan” after receiving a number of complaints about this online battle game. The complaints are reported as mentioning that this PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds game is an addictive, wastage of time and poses a serious negative impact on the physical and psychological health of the Children and a cause of a rising number of reported suicides across the country.

Few days ago a reports has emerged in which a father of a guy stopped him from playing PUBG and because of that he commits suicide.

Petitions were filed for unbanning PUBG in Pakistan:

Millions of players are playing the PUBG in Pakistan and after the suspension of the online battle game, the authority related to control the game in Pakistan filled the petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The company’s lawyer upheld that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) did not issue any notice to the company, prior the suspension of PUBG in the country. The lawyer further said that they would also appear in the hearing to be held in regard to the suspension of 9th July 2020.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disposed of the case and asked the PTA to take the final decision regarding the ban and unban of the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) online battle game in Pakistan.

One of the local PUBG players has also filed the petition regarding the suspension of the ban on the game, citing that this game is the source of income for him and other players. He had won a local gaming tournament and was set to represent Pakistan in PUBG World League on 10th July.

On the other hand, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has also directed PTA to look into the issue and decide the matter after hearing the complainants.

A meeting was held today on 9th July in this regard. PTA has also decided to take the public views regarding the unbanning of PUBG in the country.

PTA Decided not to unban PUBG in Pakistan .PTA was given an opportunity of hearing to concerned parties including PUBG’s lawyers. As per the order of the Authority, PUBG game to remain blocked in Pakistan until further order.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Islamabad High Court had ordered to uplift the ban on the PUBG Mobile earlier.
