How Overseas Pakistanis Can Apply For NICOP? Identity Card or ID card is very much essential for the individual, which may be used to prove his/her identity. Few countries issue official identity documents, as national identification cards which may be necessary or unnecessary, while others may need identity verification using regional identification or informal documents.
So, to have the Identity card is very much necessary for the people living all across the world. In Pakistan the National Database and Registration Authority is responsible of issuing the National Identity Card (NIC) to the people of the country.
Every citizen of Pakistan from the age of 18 years and above need to have the National Identity Card (NIC) that contains unique 13 digit identification number. For Pakistanis to have the NIC is extremely necessary to have the documents including the license, NTN, bank account, passport, cellular connection and many others.
Today, in this article we will talk about the NICOP. The NICOP stand for the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis, which is a registration certificate issued to an entitled citizen of Pakistan who lives or has overseas reference.
What is NICOP ?
A NICOP is the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis who have the dual nationality. if you are Pakistani and also have the nationality of other country, or born to the Pakistani parents origin or married to a Pakistani national you need to have the NICOP.
Why NICOP is Important?
Having NICOP is mandatory for the people of Pakistan with dual nationality, so they can easily travel to Pakistan without the requirement of Visa.
How you can apply for NICOP?
The people living abroad can easily apply for having the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) by visiting the NADRA Registration Center (NRC) or can also switch to the official website of Pak-Identity (NADRA’s online ID issuance system).
For having the NICOP you need to follow the below mentioned steps;
If you want to have the NICOP by visiting the NADRA Registration Center (NRC) you need to go through the following procedure;
You will be issued a token
Your photograph, fingerprints and signature will be taken at the NRC.
Your essential data entry will be done and form will be printed to be reviewed by yourself.
An application form will be given to you and you need to resubmit the form the NRC office after attestation from the gazette officers.
But in case of any blood relatives with you when you at NRC office for applying the NICOP, including your father/mother/brother/sister/son/daughter, you don’t need any attestation, the concerned NRC officer will take their biometrics as a result attestation of the form.
If you want to have the NICOP by visiting the Pak-Identity Website you need to go through the following procedure;
First of all open the Pak Identity website for having the Smart National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (SNICOP).
At Pak Identity website you can apply online for your Pakistan ID Card/POC/FRC.
You can have your SNICOP, ID Card, POC and FRC delivered to your doorstep within few days.
If you are an overseas Pakistani and already has the 13 digit NADRA’s issued identity number which can be a CRC, NICOP, CNIC or Smart ID, your first identity document will be renewed to NICOP.
First of all you need to register and then prepare yourself with the photograph and supporting documents and then you can apply for the SNICOP and NICOP.
You need to create an application in the NEW NICOP category.
You need to proceed further by selecting between the IDENTITY HOLDER and NO PREVIOUS IDENTITY options.
If you are the IDENTITY HOLDER you need to pay at the third step and card data is exposed to the applicant, but if you have the NO PREVIOUS IDENTITY, Payment is taken at the end of the application.
Required documents:
Provide your personal details accurately.
You need to upload your photograph as per provisions defined in Photograph Tutorial
Upload the supporting documents
Submit the verifier details.
You need to provide the details of two verifiers.
The verifiers must be an adult and having the valid CNIC/NICOP
Edit the suggestive online Urdu data form. The names provided in English shall be translated automatically.
Once you fill the application please review it and customize the information according to their requirement.
You can also make the required change as the Urdu keyboard option to customize the information is also available.
This information can also be corrected manually on the printed Urdu form.
You need to download the form and capture 4 fingerprints, as demanded by the system. Also fill in the verifier information in the form.
Once your form is ready, set the scanner at 600 DPI, JPEG/JPG and Grayscale and then scan and upload the form.
Review the information you given in the form, sign the declaration and then submit the application.

How to Track Application Status?
You can Track Your Application by providing your tracking id and contact number.
If you are in Pakistan, you can track your application status by sending the Tracking ID at 8400
On the other hand overseas Pakistanis can check the status of their application by logging in with their registered account at Pak Identity Website.
How long will it take from application completion to delivery?
The card delivers to your doorstep in two ways;
If you applied for the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) through the NRC, it will take the following days;
Normal – 30 days
Urgent – 15 days
Fast Track – 7 Days
If you applied for the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) through the Pak Identity Website, it will take the following days;
Application Processing – 7 days
Local Shipping in Pakistan – 2 days
International Shipping – 5 Days
