As per the survey by the renowned economist Steve Hanke, Pakistan has been ranked 35 among the most miserable countries in the world.

This report has been published in the Annual Misery Index 2022 which provided rankings for a total of 157 countries.

This is all because of the prevailing inflation as well as the severe economic and political challenges.

The index is the calculation of the fiscal year’s unemployment, inflation, and bank-lending rates, minus the annual percentage change in actual GDP per capita.

Sri Lanka is the most miserable country in South Asia closely goes after by Pakistan. Zimbabwe is also the most miserable country in the world. Our neighboring country, India is in 103rd place in the index.
