Senate’s Body Asks to Compile Laws on Eradication of Narcotics

Senate’s body asks to compile laws on eradication of narcotics. The Senate Standing Committee on Finance has recommended the government to compile all the relevant laws to strengthen the measures being taken for the eradication of menace of narcotics. It was decided in a meeting of the committee held on Wednesday under the Chairmanship of Senator Saleem Mandiwala.

The committee has appreciated the efforts and measures of the Anti Narcotics Division and said that government should provide more facilities and support to the staff of this most important department. While discussing the legislation for the appointment of Auditor General of Pakistan, the Committee directed the Ministry of Law to submit their recommendations and suggestions regarding qualifications of the person to be appointed as Auditor General of Pakistan.

The committee asked the Ministry of Law to look into the matter of appointment of Auditor General of Pakistan and if necessary, the Ministry of Law should submit necessary amendments in the law to make it appropriate for the appointment of the Audit General.

The meeting was attended by Senator Muhammad Mohsin Leghari, Senator Aysha Raza Farooq, Senator Saud Majid, Senator Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Senator Usman Saif Ullah Khan and Senator Mohsin Aziz.
