PTCL to install Wi-Fi Hotspots in Universities and Colleges of KPK

PTCL to install Wi-Fi Hotspots in Universities and Colleges of KPK. Pakistan Telecommunications company Limited (PTCL) and Ministry of Science, Technology and IT of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has made a contract to install Wi-Fi hotspots in the Universities and Colleges of KPK.

The Wi-Fi hotspots will be installed in the University of Peshawar (UoP) and 25 other colleges across the province. In order to offer digital connectivity in the educational institutes the government of KPK is playing important role.

This initiative will facilitate students and staff of educational institutes to get PTCL broadband Internet access over Wi-fi to research and access digital content related to their academic fields.

Syed Ishtiaq Hussain, Chief Planning Officer, Department of ST&IT, Government of KP and M. Suleman Awan, General Manager, Digital Services, PTCL have signed the agreement.

Both KPK Government and PTCL are expecting to facilitate KPK with advanced ICT services.

Global Telecom & IT giants are undertaking major ventures in Pakistan – Anusha Rahman

The Minister of State for Information Technology & Telecommunications – Honorable Ms. Anusha Rahman Khan inaugurated the 10th Pakistan Telecommunication and ICT Conference (TeleCON 2017) as the Chief Guest. This annual forum was held by SHAMROCK Conferences International (www.shamrockconferences.net) at the Ramada Hotel in Islamabad, with the theme: “Pakistan in the wake of Revolutionary Technologies and Solutions”. The Keynote address was delivered by the Chairman of Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) – Syed Ismail Shah.

ECP Bans Social Media & YouTube in its offices

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has banned the use of social media and Youtube in its offices across Pakistan. In this regard ECP has issued a notification that revealed that social media websites including Facebook, Twitter and video streaming websites including Youtube will remain prohibit in the ECP offices across the country.

For putting ban on social media websites and video streaming websites ECP’s Deputy Director Syed A. Rehman sent a letter to the provisional election commissioners of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

The letter revealed that the purpose on the ban of social media and Youtube on ECP Networks is to lessen the number of malware attacks and ensure the discipline of using electronic resources up to the optimum level.

The letter was sent to ECP offices nationwide on 31st March, 2017.

ECP has instructed provincial election commissioners to put immediate ban on social media and Video streaming sites with the assistance of provincial general managers of PTCL and National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC).

Major Major Internet Services Outage in Pakistan

Today Pakistan is facing major outage of internet service in Pakistan. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTCL) has confirmed that the disruption of internet services in the country is due to the fault in largest Fiber optic cable.

A number of cities in Pakistan are facing internet service problem.  There has been a breakdown in PTCL landline and mobile services in the provinces including Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan.

The subscribers of PTCL internet are facing difficulties in connecting with the Internet service as the optical fiber cable was broken in Othal, Hub, Khuzdar and Sorab areas of Balochistan. The system was also affected in Karachi’s Gulshan e Hadeed and Nooriabad areas.

The internet service outage is caused in interruption of PTCL and cellular services in Balochistan, while subscribers in other parts of the country are experiencing partial interruption and delays.

Shut Down of PTCL and Ufone Services in Pakistan

The fiber optic fault are affected the cellular companies including Ufone, as their subscribers are facing difficulties to connect with the Internet.  There are some users reporting that they got automated calls from PTCL, notifying them about a planned up-gradation activity.

It is also reported that the internet services are began to restore in Punjab.

Shut Down of PTCL and Ufone Services in Pakistan

PTCL and Ufone services badly affected in different cities of Pakistan

The telecom services of PTCL and Ufone are badly affected in the several cities of the country including Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

Lots of people have reported that the services of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTCL) and the Ufone are shut down in many parts of the country.

Ufone, PTCL landline and DSL services have totally shut down in the country, it is understood that the back-haul cable is impacted, but there’s no confirmation so far. However both PTCL and Ufone confirmed that they are trying to address the issue in order to deliver consistent and effective services. Both the cellular companies will update their system in order to resolve the issues.

There are unconfirmed reports claimed that some development work has cut the Fiber Cable in Karachi, impacting the country-wide shut down of both cellular companies’ services.
