The solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between Earth and the sun. On 21st August 2017 the total solar eclipse will darken skies from Oregon to South Carolina; along extend of land about 70 miles (113 kilometers) wide. People will see the disc of the moon move gradually in front of the sun until it covers it totally, leaving only a burning ring of light around the border.

The total Solar Eclipse 2017 will extend from Lincoln Beach, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina in U.S.

Smithsonian Eclipse 2017
