WhatsApp to stop working on millions of phones
There is a bad news for the users of WhatsApp. The messaging application company is to remove millions of users having old iPhones and android phones.
The company announced that the Whatsapp will no longer be accessible for the users having Android, iOS, Blackberry and even Nokia devices.
As an earlier statement said WhatsApp will stop working on certain phones by the end of 2016 on millions of old phones running old operating systems including Android v2.1, Android v2.2, iOS v6, Windows 7 Phone and iPhone 3GS.
WhatsApp, with above one billion monthly users, had earlier declared that it was phasing out empathy with older phones in a technology upgrading, with new features and end-to-end encryption for security concerns.
WhatsApp wrote in an update to its blog,
“We are extending support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 30, 2017.”
In the emerging markets where the chat apps and older phones are prevalent, WhatsApp has faced a sharp criticism for its move.
On the other hand the company has not given any dead line regarding the elimination of app but it is anticipated that Whatsapp will stop working on all the older version mentioned above by the end of January, 2017.
