Cable Operators Restore Cable TV Services: LHC Issued Stay Order against DTH Auction on November 23
After the successful negotiations with Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBA), Cable operators have restored the cable TV services across the country. The Cable Operators Association has called of its strike after successful conciliation; they had suspended cable TV services in the country yesterday against the Direct To Home (DTH) auction on 23rd November.
The Chairman of Cable Operators Association Khalid Arayin said that they are calling off the strike as their negotiations with PBA remain successful and Maryam Aurangzeb, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, has guaranteed them of solving their issues.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued a stay order against 23rd November DTH auction Planned by PEMRA in the country. Lahore High Court has asked the authorities stop the auction since it had already reticent a verdict in the case.
Earlier the cable operators in the country threaten the authorities outside PEMRA headquarter in Islamabad that they would go for hunger strike if their demands were not met. The cable operators are of the view that livelihood is under menace if Direct-to-home (DTH) services will launch in the country.
Cable operators say that the need time to digitize the cable TV service in the country via set-top-boxes, as presently 100 per cent of cable TV network runs on referent.
