No More Valentine’s Day Transmission On TV Channels in Pakistan. There will be no Valentine’s Day transmission on the TV channels in Pakistan. In order to stop the promoting of this Valentine’s Day in Pakistan the Islamabad High Court has issued a verdict and banned all the TV channels to air transmission regarding the Valentine’s Day in Pakistan.
In this regard the Islamabad High Court has issued a notification to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s (PEMRA) Operation Wing on Wednesday in which the court clearly banned all the licensed channels from promoting Valentine’s Day in Pakistan.
The Islamabad High Court has issued this verdict on a following a petition (NO.541/2017) against the promotion of Valentine’s Day in Pakistan. The petition was filled by an individual named Mr. Abdul Waheed, who stated that the Valentine’s Day should not be celebrated in Pakistan because it is not part of Muslims culture and tradition. The Islamabad High Court has then issued a notification and directed all Pakistani satellite TV channels, FM radio licensees, and distribution service licensees not to air transmission regarding the Valentine’s Day in Pakistan. The electronic and print media will also not cover any advertisement or promotions related to Valentine’s Day.
The notification by Islamabad High Court read as;
…In the meanwhile, respondents are directed to ensure that nothing about the celebrations of Valentine’s Day and its promotion is spread on the Electronic and Print media. No Event shall be held at official level and at any public place. Chairman, Pemra is directed to ensure that all the TV channels shall stop the promotion of Valentine Day, forthwith.
Furthermore the celebrations of Valentine’s Day in Pakistan have been banned in all public places and official premises.
