Rejecting visa applications of Pakistani pilgrims on occasion of Hazrat Khawaja Nizamuddin Urs a negative step: FO. Pakistan has said India has violated Pak-India agreement 1974 by rejecting visa applications of 192 Pakistani pilgrims for visiting India to attend Hazrat Khawaja Nizam ud Din Urs.
A statement issued by Foreign Office (FO) said India has breached the agreement on issuance of visas to Pakistani pilgrims for participating in religious rituals and celebrations. Owing to this Indian move hundreds of Pakistanis will not be able to attend Urs.
The statement further said Pakistan had sent train for Sikh Yatris this year but Indian government did not allow Sikh devotees to travel to Pakistan to attend death anniversaries of Guru Arjun Dev and Maharaja Ranjit Singh in Pakistan.
F.O spokesperson said India is widening the distance between the two countries. Religious rituals and joint traditions provide opportunity to the people of both the countries to come closer to each other but India is wasting the opportunities to improve the situation.
Rejecting Pakistani pilgrims visa applications at eleventh hour is a negative step.
