PCB Clarifies Media Reports On ICC Cricket Structures

PCB Clarifies Media Reports On ICC Cricket Structures

Shahid | December 11, 2017 | category: Cricket

PCB Clarifies Media Reports On ICC Cricket Structures. PCB wishes to clarify some reports in the media regarding the ongoing meetings on the new proposed ICC International Cricket Structures and the effect of these on the ICC Future Tours Programme with specific reference to Pakistan v India Series.

Since the onset of these discussions, PCB has reiterated its position on bilateral series vs India. Our position is that PCB’s agreement to the revised structures for international cricket is subject to the condition that PCB has a valid agreement to play bilateral matches with India and India vs Pakistan matches would be included in the FTP. This continues to be our position.

PCB has also informed the ICC that it has initiated a dispute resolution process against the BCCI under the ICC Dispute Resolution Committee Terms of Reference. Further to that the PCB’s claim is based on an existing agreement with the BCCI which contemplates that India will tour Pakistan in December 2019, August 2020 and Nov – Dec 2022 and Pakistan will tour India in Nov – Dec 2021.

Under the prevailing circumstances, it is PCB’s position that if the Dispute Resolution Committee decides the dispute in PCB’s favour then any FTP will need to be adjusted to reflect the decision. Any agreement of the PCB to any new FTP structure will therefore be without prejudice to its existing claims against BCCI and will be subject to the outcome of the ICC dispute resolution process.

Khalid Latif, Sharjeel Khan and Muhammad Irfan Out of PSL 2 over Spot Fixing Allegations

The players of Islamabad United Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan are thrown out of the PSL2 2017 over the spot fixing allegations. It is reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has provisionally suspended Islamabad United players due to their involvement if spot fixing and their mobile phones have been seized for further investigation.

Islamabad United took a great start in the first Twenty 20 match of Pakistan Super League Second Edition and defeated Pehaware Zalmi by seven wickets but Sharjeel Khan, who opened the innings, made one run off four balls while Khalid Latif was not a part of the playing XI. They are sent back to home over violation of Anti-Corruption Code of Pakistan Super League. The PCB Anti-Corruption Unit backed by the ICC ACU investigating the issue in order to keep PSL2 away from corruption.

On the other hand today Muhammed Irfan (who was part of Islamabad United) also sent back to home after alleged allegation of spot fixing. According to several media reports, his mobile phone was detained by anti-corruption unit and would be checked for the inquiry.

The withdrawal of three major players is a setback for the defending champions Islamabad United.

Najam Sethi, the Chairman of PSL said that it would not be suitable to remark on the details of the case; however this inquiry is a clear example of our determination to motivate exploitation out of our sport.

He added that they will not bear any sort of immoral action and as this investigation proceeds. They will not hesitate to take further decisive action as appropriate.

West Indies don’t want to tour to Pakistan

There are multiple reports that West Indies rejected to tour to Pakistan for two T20Is that were schedule for mid-March 2017.

After the report of Federation of International Cricket Association (FICA) which stated that Pakistan, where no major Test playing nation has travelled after the Sri Lankan  cricket team attack in 2009, is still not safe for international cricket, the West Indies cricket board decided not to visit Pakistan for playing Twenty20 over security issues.

The rejection of international team offered a major blow to PCB’s efforts of hosting a International team at home.
