No Basant Festival in the Province, Government Denies Approval

Yesterday there were news at TV channels that the government of Punjab has consented to celebrate the Basant Festival in Lahore.

The Education Minister Rana Masood on Monday announced that the Basant Festival “Safe Basant” will be held in the province in February 2017.

    “The long awaited festival would entertain the citizens of Lahore at designated places in the provincial capital.”

The Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif earlier had established an eight member committee under the leadership MPA Zaeem Qadri for the revival of Basant Festival in Lahore.

Today the government of Punjab has refuted the new for the approval of Basant Festival in the province in February 2017. They said they are pondering over to take step and will make official announcement in this regard.

Government of Punjab said in a tweet that some of the news channels are airing the news that Government has approved the Basant Festival celebration, which is NOT Correct. Further add that they will officially announce if this step is taken.

It is important to mention here that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had banned the celebration of the Basant festival in the country in 2005, over the number of deaths by the use of sharp and glass coasted string.

Punjab Government Allows to Celebrate Basant Festival

It’s been reported by the social media TV Channels today that the government of Punjab has lift ban on celebrating Basant Festival in the province.

The Education Minister Rana Masood on Monday announced that the Basant Festival “Safe Basant” will be held in the province in February 2017. He said the Basant was banned in the country since long and the festival will be held at the designated places in Lahore.

We reported earlier that the smog has disrupted the life of the people of Punjab and causing too much respiratory illnesses in the province.

Once again the Smog is to continue to disrupt the life in Punjab as the weather is to remain dry for the next two months. The Pakistan Meteorology Department forecasts the weather, according to their report there will be no rainfall in Punjab and weather to remain dry with the cloudy blanket of Smog.

The Meteorology Department said that the weather to remain cold and dry in the different regions of Pakistan including Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Malakand, , Northern FATA, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir. There may be rain and snow fall on the mountainous regions.

Necessary Precautions and Foods to Combat Air Pollution

The Chief of meterologist department Muhammad Riaz said that the weather to remain dry and the temperature will be low with no or low rainfall.  The dry and foggy weather will cause a number of respiratory diseases like cold, cough, flu and the atmosphere will be critical for asthma patients as well.

The government of Sindh has officially declared the public holiday in the province in order to commemorate Iqbal Day on November 9, 2016.

The federal government declared November 9 a public holiday in Sindh, following the decision of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announcement of a public holiday tomorrow in KPK.

All the public and private schools across Sindh will remain closed on Wednesday 9th November, 2016 on account of Iqbal Day.

Public Holiday on 1st Muharram in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has declared the official holiday on 1st Muharram 2016, 1438 Hijri, in the Province.
A meeting of provincial cabinet, leaded by Chief Minister of Khyber PakhtunKhwa (KPK), Pervaiz Khattak , has decided to declare Holiday on 1st Muharram in the province. So there will be public holiday on 3rd October, 2016 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
