Pemra Demands Complete Ban on Indian Content In Pakistan
Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) requests to have a complete ban on Indian content in Pakistan.
Pemra Chairman Absar Alam said that their request on the complete ban on Indian content in the country has been sent to the federal government.
India has completely banned the Pakistani content in their country and Federal government earlier suggested to bar the broadcasting of Indian content in the country.
PEMRA has sent a letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in this regard. The Chairman of PEMRA said that they should do the same as India did with Pakistani artist, by banning the screening of Indian content across the country.
Absar Alam said that they started a crackdown against cable operators who are involved in illegal Indian Direct to-Home (DTH). He also said that he is receiving complains that three Pakistani TV channels are airing more than 6 per cent Indian content in the country.
He said that they are keeping an eye if they violate the instruction strict action would be taken against them.
